Chapter 8 – Preview

A young boy stood at the end of Liberty Pier, waiting for the ferry to Liberty Garden. He fixed his hat as the lazy sea breeze tried to push it from his head. Turning around, he watched as the crowds swarmed past the streets before him, a blur of colour.

Two people walking side by side caught his eye. A boy and a girl, and they appeared to be Pokemon trainers, like he was. The girl looked to be around his age, with long brown hair in a ponytail, and stuffed through the back of her pink and white cap. The boy was older, and probably deserved to be called a man. He had long, green hair, tied back hastily and covered in a black and white hat, much like the girls.

The boy watched as the two friends walked down the street farthest to the left, in the direction of the Pokemon gym. Shaking his head, he pulled a gold trimmed ticket from his pocket, examining the crinkles that had formed in the edges and smoothing them out with his thumb and forefinger.

As the ferry pulled into the dock, the boy walked slowly forward. Smiling, he held out his ticket as a man in naval-looking suit approached him. Taking it graciously, he inspected its authenticity, before ripping the end off and returning it to him. "Here you go, and enjoy your trip!" He told him. "Say, what's your name, son?"

The boy grinned happily. "My name's Touya!"
